SCAM ALERT

The Beaverton Police Department wants to make you all aware that there is an individual/individuals making phone calls requesting payment to clear up an arrest warrant.

One of the individuals is identifying himself as a Sergeant with the Washington County Sheriff’s office warrant division. This subject has a southern accent and wants you to give him a credit card number over the phone or mail a pre-paid credit card to clear up a warrant for you arrest.

No Law Enforcement Agency will ever call you on the phone and request any kind of payment to clear up an arrest warrant. If you have a warrant for your arrest you must go before a judge or bail yourself out after you have been taken into custody.

If you receive a call from anyone telling you that you have a warrant and that you need to make a payment over the phone or mail a pre-paid credit card, it is a SCAM and do not give any information or mail any money.

If you receive a call like this please contact your law enforcement agency and make a report.
